Presented by The Australian Ballet Regional Tour and Cairns Regional Council, Coppélia is an enchanting new adaptation of ballet’s most famous comic tale.
Coppélia follows the romantic tale of Swanhilda and Franz, who are deep in love. When magician Dr. Coppelius creates the beautiful Coppélia, a dancing doll that seems far too lifelike, Franz starts to turn his attention toward her. But Swanhilda realises Coppélia may not be what Franz believes her to be, and she must do everything she can to rescue him. Starring a fantastic cast of performers and featuring captivating choreography, stunning costumes, and an enchanting musical score, Coppélia is a ballet spectacle for all ages, and a performance of three acts that will fix your gaze from beginning to end.
Coppélia is still performed on the world stage today, and has proved itself to be one of the most captivating ballets of all time since its first-ever performance in 1870.
