Don't Miss the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival this June

Witness the world-famous Cairns Airport Adventure Festival this winter with our central Cairns apartment accommodation.

All set to return in June, the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival will bring thousands of athletes from all over the world to participate once again in a number of highly-anticipated triathlon events. This monumental sporting event is one of the biggest in Australia, which sees five challenging triathlon events take place against the picturesque backdrop of Cairns.

As with each year, the highlight of the Cairns Airport Festival is IRONMAN, a challenging iron-distance circuit that takes its competitors up the Captain Cook Highway from Cairns to Port Douglas, embarking on a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km bike ride, and a 42.2 km run. This particular circuit has become famous worldwide for its stunning route featuring a backdrop of World Heritage rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef just off the coast, making IRONMAN one of the most sought-after triathlon events for world-class triathletes all over the globe.

Along with IRONMAN, the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival also hosts the IRONMAN 70.3, Quicksilver Reef Swim, The Cairns Post Bright Night Run, and the McDonald’s IRONKIDS Cairns Triathlon. The IRONMAN 70.3 is a lighter version of IRONMAN, featuring a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride, and 21.1 km run. The Quicksilver Reef Swim takes place at Green Island and offers both 1.5 and 3 km distances. The Cairns Post Night Run is a unique night run along the Cairns foreshore. And the IRONKIDS Cairns Triathlon is a kids’ version of IRONMAN, with several kids’ prizes upon completion.

Throughout the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival make sure to stop by the Cairns Sport and Lifestyle Expo, offering lots of sport gear and clothing as well as food and drink stalls.
