Set against the scenic backdrop of Cairns, the Cairns Indigenous Craft Fair is one of the most country’s premier cultural celebrations, which has been dedicated to showcasing and promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture and heritage. Since its inaugural event in 2014, the Cairns Indigenous Craft Fair has enjoyed visitors from all over the world, with a collective attendance of almost 200,000 people over its four-year period.

This year the Cairns Indigenous Craft Fair will be hosting a brand new program with more exciting live music and dance performances, cultural art and markets, kids’ activities, workshops, and plenty more for all ages and backgrounds to enjoy. It’s the perfect event for discovering as well as celebrating Australian heritage, and a fantastic display of culture that takes place over four jam-packed days.

At this year’s Cairns Indigenous Craft Fair make sure to be at the spectacular Opening Night Party which will feature live entertainment from Miriki Performing Arts, Northern POMO Tribe, and festival favourites Electric Fields. From then on, three days of exciting family-friendly events will take place throughout the Art Fair. Don’t miss exclusive film showings with Pitcha’s After Dark, the Pride in Authority cultural exhibit, special talks with Artist Talks and CIAF Conversations, kids’ activities with Gungun Warruwarru, a stunning fashion display with Fashion Performance, and lots more. The Cairns Indigenous Craft Fair will also offer a mouthwatering selection of food stalls and vendors throughout the four-day event, offering the chance for foodies to get their hands on some regional cuisine. On the last day of the Art Fair, enjoy the spectacular Closing Ceremony which will see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance troupes take to the stage for a final evening of high-energy family fun.
