Live Entertainment, Workshops, Art Exhibits and More at Festival 2018 Cairns!
The program for Festival 2018 Cairns is jam-packed and raring to go, set to celebrate the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Complementing the region’s largest sporting event will be a 12-day program of live entertainment, workshops, visual art exhibits and more - and it’s free to attend! Don’t miss this incredible celebration in Cairns from April 4 to April 15.
Enjoy an explosive fireworks display at the Festival 2018 Cairns Opening Night, as well as unmissable performances from Cairns locals NightShift and new-wave brass band Bullhorn. Also on April 4 create your own origami boat with a special message for the Polytoxic Lagoon installation, watch a highly-anticipated performance from the dance-theatre company Polytoxic, view the Big Design and You and Me art galleries, and improve your art skills with the Spart Workshops!
April 5 will see Amy Shark take to the Live Site Music Main Stage, giving a performance that’s not to be missed for her fans. You can also a fun and hilarious swimming workshop from the Esthers with Esthers in the Lagoon, get busy with kids’ art and games with Art-tivity by Regular Rick, and enjoy family-friendly entertainment with Gigs for Kids.
On April 6 The Montgomery Brothers perform on the Live Site Music Stage, followed by Drewboy and the Sax Addicts (April 7), Archie Roach (April 8), and Leanne Tennant and Band (April 9). From April 9 don’t miss experiencing your a mini Commonwealth Games with ARC Racers, a stunning sand art from Brigitte Strivens, and an interactive digital art exhibit with Persistence: Kickarts Contemporary Arts and Clinton Freeman.
Catch more live performances on April 10 with King Social as well as Drum Mugendai, a performance featuring Taiko drumming from some of Cairns’ best local drummers. Listen to Melanesian funk on the Live Site Music Stage with Melafunk Collective on April 11. On April 12 see Kate Miller-Heidke give an unmissable headlining performance. Festival 2018 Cairns will go out with a bang on its final weekend with performances from Zennith, Deline Briscoe Trio, Skanq, and Mau Power (April 14) followed by Bobby Maquire, Brealyn Sheehan Trio, The Taste, and The Cat Empire (April 15).
