One-act Play 'night Mother To Tackle Suicide

The 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama winning piece ‘night, Mother aims to tackle and spark debates on the subject of suicide. Join Rondo Theatre as it presents `night, Mother on the 15th of April 2016 (Friday).

This 1983 one-act play, which was written by Marsha Norman, centers the story on two characters: Jessie Gates and her mother. First performed on Broadway the same year it received the prestigious award, the compelling story unravels with Jessie asking her mother where her deceased father’s gun is kept. As she cleans the gun, Jessie quietly announces that she’s going to kill herself at the end of the evening, resulting in a fierce struggle between mother and daughter.

Director John Hughes taps actors Avril Duck and Natalie Crowe to bring this story to life as this production hopes to communicate suicide awareness among the community at Cairns Little Theatre.

Tickets sell at $22.00. Proceeds from the one-night-only performance will be given to Lifeline to further promote suicide awareness.
